Welcome Home to the Fallen...

I was standing in yet another flag line honoring a fallen warrior who was to buried at the Black Hills National Cemetery in South Dakota. A thought entered my mind about how the many, many other warriors already here of how or what they would say to the newly arrived... The following poem was the result of my thoughts...

Welcome Home

Welcome home my heroic young soldier
I want you to know you’re not alone
You gave your all our young warrior
We want to say welcome home

Welcome home my fearless young Marine
I want you to know you’re not alone
You gave your all our young warrior
We want to yell welcome home

Welcome home my brave young sailor
I want you to know you’re not alone
You gave your all our young warrior
We want to shout welcome home

Welcome home my gallant young airman
I want you to know you’re not alone
You gave your all our young warrior
We want to cry welcome home

We were with you when you fell in battle
Now you join our fallen, you’re not alone
You lie among many fellow warriors
And we all say, welcome home

Doesn’t matter if it were a war in the pacific
Or from any other of the wars we’ve known
We are warriors, died loving our country
Now it’s time to rest; welcome home
